Aim of Klaipeda social and psychological support centre
Klaipeda social and psychological support center is the coordinator of the implementation of the assistance programme in Lithuania. Partner organizations include: Lithuanian Caritas, Missing Person’s Families Support Center and Woman’s Aid for Woman. The aim in relation to the Nordic-Baltic assistance programme is to strengthen and develop the support, protection and assistance to women victims of trafficking, developing a shared model of victim-centered services for women victims of trafficking. Moreover, the aim is to facilitate the safe return and social integration of women victims of trafficking for those who want to return to Lithuania.
Services will be offered to women who have been victims of trafficking. These include both women that are returning to Lithuania, and Lithuanian and foreign women who have been trafficked within Lithuania. Assistance is offered regardless of status or any legal case or the willingness to act as a witness in criminal proceedings.
Klaipeda social and psychological support center services for women victims of trafficking (VOTs) in Lithuania
In relation to the Nordic-Baltic project, the main activity is the establishment of a coherent model for services and assistance for women VOTs. The model offers all necessary services for them in shelters throughout the country. Services and support is provided according to a holistic and multi-disciplinary approach and is provided by Klaipeda social and psychological support center as well as the partner organizations. The assistance should correspond to the individual needs of the woman and include:
Meeting the woman in the airport or any other place she may wish to meet her service provider
Provision of safe accommodation for VOTs in shelter or out of shelter accommodation
Provision of social, psychological, legal support for VOTs according to her needs
Provision of clothing, medicine and hygiene goods
Assessment and organization of professional training
Assessment and share of information about the each with coordinating partner
Summary of all cases and reposting to the coordinating partner by the end of each case
A detailed plan of the constitution of a specialized shelter model for women VOTs is under process. Different solutions are being discussed by Klaipeda social and psychological support center in cooperation with different ministries, NGOs and one municipality. However, the expected outcome is fourfold and includes:
To run a comprehensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation programme (medical, psychological, social, and legal support)
To create a network among organizations providing support for women VOTs
To develop a victim-centred structured and agreed model and process for support and assistance to women VOTs in Lithuania
To describe and document services and support provided for women VOTs in Lithuania
